Friday training and a new twist on an old favorite
The kid, the other Steve and myself met up at the gym and slowly shook the cobwebs off warming up. It was one of those days where we all seemed stiff and sore but we eventually got going. Deadlifts were on the menu today so we ended up doing this.
Front squats:
135 x 8
135 x 8
185 x 6
225 x 3
225 x 3
275 x 3
275 x 3
Deadlifts:
Worked up to:
505 x 10 singles
405 x 15
Inverted rows- wide grip
4 x 18, 13, 12, 12
Dumbbell pull-overs with band tension- I conjured this up in my head movies yesterday and wanted to give them a try. It was probably the sickest lat exercise I ever felt. Try it some time, get a good stretch and lead with your elbows.
4 x 12
Tomorrow I head up the Association of Oldtime Barbell and Strongmen annual dinner in Newark NJ to rub elbows with all the other old, washed up lifters and strongmen. I always have a good time and hanging around with those guys and there are always a lot of great stories being told. Hopefully I’ll get some good pictures if I can.
