The high bar squats are back.
I really have a lot on my mind today, things have been very busy for me professionally with finalizing the book, trying to find time to write more stuff, booking and training clients, service my online clients, process all the new t-shirt orders, looking at re-staffing the gym in the very near future and answering all the emails I have been getting.
I had to run out to a doctor appointment this morning so I ended up training alone this afternoon which was pretty much just what I needed today. It gave me a chance to really shut everything around me out and just do what I do.
I decided to switch my back squat up from a wide, power style to a deep, high bar style squat today to see how it would go. I was pleasantly surprised because it went really well. I was squatting legit, ass sitting on heels just wearing rehbands on my knees and ended working up to 365lbs for ten powerful singles. It’s a fucking good feeling going from laying in a hospital bed after surgery fourteen months ago having my doctor walk in and say, “Well, your squatting days are over.” to doing what I did today.
Squats: worked up to 365lbs x 10 x 1
Leg press with extra band tension, supersetted with leg extensions: 4 sets x 20 reps each
Glute ham raise: 5 x 15
The training really cleared my mind up a lot.
