A squatting comeback
Here is an interesting exchange I had with a guy recently:
Dude: I don’t need to train legs, I just want to make my triceratops bigger.
Me: Really? Your triceratops?
Dude: Yeah, my triceratops (pats the back of his arm
Me: Well, since your triceratops have been extinct for millions of years you better get to work bro.
I know I declared publicly that I would NEVER back squat again but I decided to hit some today. We also added a new guy to the entourage recently, he’s another guy who’s my age and his name is “the other Steve”. Named that because, well I am already Steve and there can only be one Steve per entourage. Pop Pop Bob and the other Steve were box squatting on one rack with bands which culminated in Bob doing 45 reps with 225lbs on a down set. Me and the kid were squatting with chains on another rack. The kid hit a nice 315 + 120 in chains in the bucket for a front squat. (Seen here repping out 100kgs with me yelling at him). I actually squatted pretty well but I’m going to be sore as hell tomorrow, it’s been a while since I did deep back squats.
60kgs + 120lbs in chains x 10
80 + chains x 10
100 + chains x 6
120 + chains x 5
140 + chains x 5
160 + chains x 3
180 (396lbs) + chains x 1 The squat felt really good, I just had a tough time setting it up due to my gimpy ankle and knee.
Leg press: with added band tension 3x25
GH Raises: 4x12
Standing abs: 4x8
Cardio: 30 minutes on eliptical
