Due to the overwhelming positive responses I received from the mental toughness post last week, I am going to postsome tips, on ways to effectively increase your mental game. When it comes to your mental health, you are what you eat. If you eat like crap, you will feel like crap as well as look like crap. Eating the right diet will help you look, feel and perform better. Everyone knows this is true physically, it is also true mentally. If you have an overwhelming surplus of negative thoughts and influences in your life, you are perpetually going to be in a negative state. If you are surrounded by positive influences, of course the opposite is true.
It has been said, “You are a product of the five people you spend the most time with.” Who are you spending time with? You need to be spending time with people that are for you and believe in you. These people want you to succeed and believe that you will. Have you ever been around a person that drains you physically and mentally? Everything they say and do is negative. Obviously, you don’t feel your best when you are around that person, and you won’t perform your best either… DO NOT BE DRAGGED IN TO THEIR PERSONAL HELL. On the flip side, there are people that have a silver lining to all things in life and make you a better person. Surround yourself with these people. One person constantly reminds you of what you can’t do and the other reminds you of what you are made to do.
Today’s tip is to be around people who believe in you and are in your corner. Get away from negative people. As Joel Osteen says, “You can’t soar with the eagles if you are pecking with the chickens.”
