Saturday's squat training w/Chad Walker:
Saturday we had had some guests drive up from South Florida. Big Chad Walker came up to tune his squat for the Pro/AM. Four and a half hours in the morning to be squatting by 9:30 in Jax shows some serious hunger. He and Mark Schott, who drove up with him to help, added a lot to the atmosphere of our own training. I appreciated having them both in the gym with us.
The heat Saturday was nasty in a serious way. I threw on my suit and went for a max to gauge where I’m at now. I had to pull it off a set early. I was drained and sick after a couple hours in that heat. I made fun of Brian last week for crying about the heat, and I paid for it this week. Planning on some changes to fix the heat problem going forward.
I had my JACK briefs on again this week. It’s weird that I was able to squat to depth in just the briefs, but under a suit they kept me a little high. That was in my big suit. I’ll work on it going forward. Last thing I want to do is show up on the platform after a long lay off and bomb with a high squat.
I worked up to 840 and tapped out there. Not happy.
