Weekend training
Last week was a total bust. It was a deload week but I didn’t make it in to train at all. I worked 70+ hours and slept when I wasn’t working. I was planning on taking a heavy squat on Saturday but it just wasn’t there. My workout broke down like this…
Saturday
Squats 145x5x1 235x5x1 325x3x1 Put on Ace briefs 415x2x1 505x1x1 Added Ace suit with straps down 595x1x1 Put straps up 645x1x1 700x1x1
Conventional pulls (raw) 225x1x1 315x1x1 405x1x1 495x1x1 545x1x1
The squats went okay but I was a little shaky and didn’t feel strong at all. The 700 moved nicely but should have been much faster. The pulls were easier than I thought. Should have continued to go up but was just too damn tired.
Sunday
I felt pretty good on the way to the gym. My back was a little tight but I ate well yesterday and got plenty of sleep. My workout broke down like this…
Bench 135x5x2 225x3x1 315x2x1 Put on Ace shirt 365x2x1- 1 rep to a 3 board, 1 rep to a 2 board 425x1x1 to a 1 board 500…..missed it 3 or 4 times! There was a split decision on my 4th attempt on whether or not I locked it out but either way I had already bombed.
Bent over barbell rows 245x8x3
Shoulder stuff.
Yeah the bench was a disaster. 425 felt solid. 500 was an entirely different story. The first one came off my chest and the spotters took it. I guess it was headed for my face. The second press stalled 4 inches off my chest. The third stalled about 6 inches off my chest. “I’m taking it again” got some looks. I figured each attempt was getting better. Took the fourth and it was right there, might have been locked out but maybe not. They would have had to judge it though. I’ve got to get stronger.
