For any of the rehab specialists,

I have a problem with the shoulder flexion movement. When I flex my arm, my right shoulder feels tighter as my arm nears vertical.

If I do this with weight, even a light weight like 3lbs, it hurts my shoulder.

Any ideas how I can progress to the point that my shoulder does not hurt when doing the shoulder flexion movement with weight and also to lessen the tightness when I do the movement without weight?

With any case like this I recommend you get a hands on examination. with that being said, lacrosse ball rolling the pecs, rhomboids, lats, and triceps might help with your motion. Also add in the biceps.

Make sure you are emphasizing work for the scapular retractors and avoid pain in exercises that duplicate the motion you mentioned for now.
